…The angry youths block highways to show displeasure against insecurity in their communities
Some irate youths from Turare, Marke and Dogon Ruwa villages in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State have trooped out on Thursday morning in demonstrations against banditry in their communities.
The reports from the scene revealed they barricaded Dutsin-ma – Kankara highway, but a joint team of police and other security operatives were said to have later cleared the road and reinstated tranquility on the highway.

Observers noted that the youths had in the morning blocked the highway with trees, stones and old tyres, and were chanting songs portraying their discontentment over the insecurity in the communities.
This incident, according to eyewitnesses, barred many commuters from accessing thee roads in the morning.
One of the youths who pleaded anonymity said, “We are tired of activities of the bandits in our communities. We blocked the highway to show our displeasure over insecurity here. We want the authorities to be aware of our plight and come to our rescue.”
The Spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, could not be contacted for statement as he was said to be at a meeting, therefore it could not be verified whether any arrest was made as at the time of filing this report.
This happening barely 24 hours when #RevolutionNow peaceful protests flooded some cities and towns in the country, where the police arrested some protesters. The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina however, described the protests on Wednesday mostly carried out by few youths as, “irritating.”
