… INEC adds that politicians buying PVCs is efforts in futility
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, has described the efforts of politicians buying Permanent Voters Cards PVCs as efforts in futility. The electoral umpire noted that it is impossible for anybody to rig the 2023 general election.
The INEC National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, stated this in an interview on Channels Television on Sunday. He noted that the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System makes it impossible for any politician to manipulate the results of the 2023 general elections.
He said, “The BVAS will be used for the accreditation and authentication of voters come 2023, and it will reject biometric data of persons who are not original owners of the traded PVCs.”

Meanwhile, Okoye also stated that INEC have removed polling units from shrines, mosques, churches, residence of powerful individuals, palaces of traditional rulers, and facilities owned by politicians. He said this is to ensure electoral integrity.
The electoral commissioner urged Nigerians to protect electoral materials by reporting any suspicious activities to the appropriate quarters noting that it is a shared responsibility of every Nigerian to ensure a free, fair, and credible election.
