Emmanuel Macron slapped by citizen while on official duty
French President Emmanuel Macron was slapped by a man in the face while on an official visit to the south-east of France on Tuesday.
In a video circulating on social media, the president was walking up to a barrier on a trip to Tain-l’Hermitage outside the city of Valence when a man in green t-shirt slapped him in the face.
The man reportedly shouted “Down with Macron-ism” as he slapped the president.
In the video Mr Macron briefly returned to the barrier after the incident and once again interacted with the crowd.
The man whose identity is said to still be unknown was pulled away by security.
According to BBC, the motive behind the attack on the President is still unknown it quoted a French media report to saying two men have already been arrested.
