…Pissetzky says Hushpuppi insists a legitimate business
A Chicago-based lawyer and legal counsel to Hushpuppi, Gal Pissetzky has defended his client that he is not a cyber fraudster, despite weighty allegations of fraud against him.
Pissetzky, who works for Pissetzky & Berliner was hired by Hushpuppi to represent him in the United States told Forbes on Thursday that the Nigerian internet celebrity has not engaged in any scam.
“Absolutely not guilty of the charges they are accusing him of. Abbas was running a legitimate business and a very legitimate Instagram account and did not take part in any scam or fraud,” Pissetzky said.
He also defended his extravagant lifestyle on social media, maintaining he was able to afford the lifystyle through his real estate business and brand promotion.
“He’s an entrepreneur. He has real estate involvement. He was promoting brands and that’s how he was very rich legitimately making his money,” he added.
While defending the 37-year old for his fondness in posing with celebrity, Pissetzky said, “Abbas is friends with a lot of people. Somebody who has that many followers, obviously he knows and has friends in a lot of places…it’s all legitimate.”
Hushpuppi was arrested by the Dubai Police in June 10 alongside his accomplices in a special operation termed ‘Fox Hunt 2’.
He was then extradited to the United States where he is facing trial. He and his associates were allegedly attempting to defraud an American law firm, a foreign financial institution and a soccer club in the English Premier League.
He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Centre (MCC) in Chicago. He could get jailed for 20 years if found culpable.
