…says the petition filed against him lacks merit
The Bayelsa Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja has upheld the election of Senator Duoye Diri as Governor of Bayelsa State.
In a unanimous ruling of the three-man panel delivered by Justice Owodunni on Saturday, the tribunal affirmed that the appeal filed by Owei Woniwei of the Alliance for Democracy is inept and lacks merit.
This is coming a month after the Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by a former aspirant of the Bayelsa governorship election under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Timi Alaibe, challenging the candidacy of Senator Diri in the November 2019 election.

The Tribunal further declared that the petitioner failed to present the claims of the forged declaration of age and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharged certificate levelled against the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
