President Muhammadu Buhari has prophesied that his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) will win the forthcoming presidential election in Nigeria under its flag bearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tinubu was a two–time former governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007. In June 2022, Tinubu was chosen in a fiercely contested and monetized primaries to be the presidential flag bearer of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress, for the forthcoming general election.
Tinubu is in the presidential race with the former vice-president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, (PDP) who is from the Northern region; and with Peter Obi (Labour Party), also a two-time former governor of Anambra State and a darling of the youths. Peter Obi is from the Eastern Part of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari has thrown his weight behind his party publicly in an interview with pressmen after his brief visit to the king of England, King Charles the III at the Buckingham Palace.

Buhari who is on a two-week medical tourism in London paid an official visit to the King as part of his effort to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Nigerian and the UK.
The two-time president said APC is lucky to have Tinubu as its flag bearer in the coming election and expressed optimism that the former governor of Lagos is going to clinch the next captain of the Nigerian ship.
“What are the chances of my party not winning the election? We are going to win the election,” he said.
Buhari noted that Tinubu’s popularity both within and outside Lagos State cannot be overlooked.

He added, “Tinubu, the presidential candidate, a very well-known politician in the country, he was a two-term governor in Lagos State, the most resourceful state and the most visited state. So, I think the party was lucky to get him to be the candidate.”

While commenting on the outcome of his meeting with the king of England, Buhari said that King Charles is interested in strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and the UK.
“He is interested very much in Nigeria, maybe because of Nigeria’s relationship with Britain for long, our economic strength, I think we are still of great attachment to them. Speaks very well of Nigeria and wants the relationship to continue and if possible improve,” he said.
