Singer, Sammie Okposo to be buried Dec 15, see burial arrangement

The funeral service for Sammie Okposo will be a private affair

The family of singer, Sammie Okposo, have released his funeral arrangement.

Sammie Okposo, the iconic gospel singer who slept on the lord on November 25, 2022, was said to have died in his sleep.

According to the family, the singer will be buried on December 15, 2022.

The statement said a night of tribute will be held for Sammie on Tuesday, December 13 in Lagos State. This will be followed by a service of songs on Wednesday.

The family, however, said the funeral service for Okposo which will take place on December 15, will be a private affair.

At the time of his death, Sammie Okposo, the ‘wellu-wellu’ singer had bagged was had been nominated for more than 40 awards from gospel music and sound tracks production. He won 40 awards before his death.

Sammie was an accomplished musician who helped many up-and coming artist accomplish their music dreams. In early 2000, Sammie started SOPP, Sammie Okposo Praise Party, a musical concert for up-and—coming artists in Nigeria to showcase their musical skills.

Okposo’s musical career began in 1992 when he began making movie soundtracks for Nollywood’s early filmmakers.

As his wonderful and captivating soundtracks portfolio spread, Okposo started getting the attention and praise of other entertainment players and that emboldened him to venture into music.

In 2022, Sammy released his first album, Unconditional Love, which soon became a nationwide hit. The success of Unconditional Love propelled Sammie to release Addicted in 2004.

Okposo has collaborated with a good number of gospel artists in and outside Africa. He performed around the world taking Nigeria gospel music to the world with pride.

In January, 2022, sammie was in the news for the wrong reason. He was accused of infidelity. Sammie’s name was nearly destroyed when a U. S. based lady who goes by African Dolly accused him of getting her pregnant and abandoning her. Okposo apologized to his wife and his fans via Instagram and thereafter deactivated his social media handles but reactivated them a few days later.

The matter had already died down when Sammie suddenly dropped dead on November 25, 2022, at the age of 51.

Sammie was survived by his wife, Ozioma, and his daughter, Alulia Okposo.
