Finally, senate bows to pressure reject Onochie as INEC Commissioner
The Senate has rejected the nomination of Lauretta Onochie as one of the national commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The decision came following the report presented by the chairman of the Senate Committee on INEC, Kabiru Gaya during plenary on Tuesday.
Gaya, who is the chairman of the committee, told the lawmakers that Onochie did not satisfy the provisions of the Federal Character Principles.
He also said there is already a National Commissioner of INEC, Mrs. May Agbamuche, representing Delta State in the Commission.
