Security forces arrest Sunday Igboho weeks after Ibadan home raid
Secessionist campaigner, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
Punch reports that Igboho was picked up by security forces at an airport in Cotonou on Monday night, citing a top source familiar with the matter.
Igboho arrest comes about three weeks after Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Services, raided his Ibadan home and declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms. He denies the allegations.

The source said Igboho will be repatriated to Nigeria on Tuesday (today) from Benin Republic.
“He was arrested in Cotonou while he tried to travel out on Monday night. His destination was Germany. The security forces in Benin Republic should repatriate him to Nigeria on Tuesday,” the source said.
Recall that during the raid on his Ibadan residence in the Soka area on July 1, 2021; about 12 of his aides were arrested. Two were killed in a gun duel.
