…Senator Akpabio has claimed on Monday that National Assembly members are the greatest beneficiaries of NDDC projects
The House of Representatives, have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to announce the names of the National Assembly members who were given contracts by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as well as the facts and figures of the contracts.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila made this demand during the plenary on Tuesday, a day after the minister claimed that majority of the projects of the Commission were given to lawmakers to execute.
According to the Speaker, the House may engage the full wrath of the law if the minister fails to announce the names as requested.

Senator Akpabio claimed on Monday while facing questions from the House Committee on NDDC that the lawmakers were “the greatest beneficiaries” of NDDC contracts.
When he was questioned on how the lawmakers benefitted, he replied that, “I just told you that we have records to show that most of the contracts in the NDDC are given out to members of the National Assembly.”
The Speaker also added that the former senator will do the country a favour of being transparent if he publishes those names.
Gbajabiamila also wished the acting Managing Director of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the NDDC, Prof. Daniel Pondei who slumped on Monday while being grilled a quick recovery.
