Nigeria COVID-19 death toll is at 744 as of Monday
Despite widespread awareness on COVID-19 and preventive measures, the number of persons dying from the strange disease has continued to rise in Nigeria.
As of Monday, July 13, 2020 the Nigeria COVID-19 death toll stood at 744.
But these rising fatalities, according to the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, is due to denial in the existence of the disease by many Nigerians, which leads to delay in seeking help and consequently the increase in Nigeria COVID-19 death toll.
Apparently, many Nigerians still believe COVID-19 is a hoax and that government is exploiting its hype to steal more money.

However, the PTF chairman and Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, who stated this on Monday during a daily briefing, encouraged Nigerians to know their status and to seek help as soon as possible if tested positive.
According to Mustapha, sample collection centres had been expanded in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), even as all government hospitals in the city are now locations.
