…Wike says what is instrumental to the PDP is winning back presidency in 2023
Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will consider all options available before it to win the presidential election in 2023.
Wike revealed this in a television interview on Tuesday adding that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) can afford to zone the presidency but the PDP cannot concentrate its winning strategy on a particular option.
When asked about his opinion on the comment made by Mamman Daura that competence and not the rotation of power should be considered in the 2023 presidential election, Wike said he is indifferent about the remarks as winning is what is paramount to the main opposition party.

“As an opposition party, we look at all variables. What will make us win the election first. That is what is important to us. The ruling party can say that but for the opposition party, there are variables.
While reacting to the controversial zoning debate, “It depends. As an opposition party, we look at variables. Forget about other parties. We look at all variables and our own concern is how do we win, how do we get back power,” he said.
“So, it is not one factor that will influence. So, many variables will come to play. So, it will be wrong for me as an opposition person to say this must be done now. No, I will not do that.”

In his illustration, he said disclosed how his party PDP was contemplating whether to present him as the party’s candidate for Rivers State Governorship election in 2015 due to hailing from the same zone of his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, but when other factors considered he emerged the flag bearer and eventually won.
