…Abegunde says he resigns as Ondo SSG for personal reasons
The Secretary to the State Government in Ondo State, Ifedayo Abegunde has resigned his appointment.
The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu received his resignation letter on Monday.
Abegunde, who stated that his resignation is personal, however, thanked his former boss, Akeredolu for giving him opportunity to serve the state.
Although, he declined comment on whether he would resign his membership from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the relationship between the former SSG and the governor has hit the rock for more than a month now, concerning the second term bid of the latter.
It was not certain if the the former Ondo State government scribe would join the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but sources in the government confirmed he had boycotted several official events in the past few weeks.
This development is also coming weeks after the deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi dumped APC for PDP.
Ajayi, who has recently been screened to contest for the PDP’s primary election, on Sunday asked Akeredolu to hand over to him having tested positive for coronavirus.
