President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his commitment to ensuring a free and fair election in the upcoming general election in Nigeria.
The president made this statement on Tuesday at the Jos Township Stadium during the flag off of the APC Tinubu-Shettima presidential campaign for the 2023 presidential election.
He said this through the Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.
The president was said to be responding to the announcement by the Campaign Director-General, Governor Simon Lalong, that he intends to recreate the SDP’s Moshood Abiola historic victory of 30 years ago which took off in Job, same city of the APC campaign.

Mallam Shehu has quoted Buhari as saying that, “No election winner will be denied his mandate, irrespective of the party to which they belonged.”

Buhari handed the APC flag to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kasim Shettima, and urged the party members to commit to the campaign and ensure the party wins the presidential election in 2023. He added that he will be at the forefront of the campaign to make sure the party wins.
Buhari restated his belief in the party, and insisted that only the APC has the capacity to steer Nigeria to a prosperous future.
Other party officials led by the party chairman, Senator Adamu, urged Nigerians to vote for APC. Adamu arhued that the APC is the surest way to economic prosperity in the country.
