…the current total confirmed COVID-19 cases hit 47,743
Nigeria has, for the first time in many weeks, recorded no coronavirus deaths, even as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC confirmed 453 cases.
The NCDC announced on its Twitter handle on Wednesday that the new cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections to 47,743.
As at Wednesday, August 12, 2020, an aggregate of 47,743 cases have been confirmed, with 33,943 discharged cases and 956 deaths recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The figures in the update stand as:
- Total cases confirmed: 47,743
- Total active cases: 12,884
- Total cases discharged: 33,943
- Total deaths recorded: 956
- Total sample tested: 338,084
The reported 453 new cases are compiled from 15 states and Federal Capital Territory with Lagos having the highest number.
The statistics are given as: Lagos (113), FCT (72), Plateau (59), Enugu (55), Kaduna (38), Ondo (32), Osun (26), Ebonyi (20), Ogun (9), Delta (8), Borno (7), Akwa Ibom (6), Oyo (5), Bauchi (1), Kano (1) and Ekiti (1).
