NCDC records highest COVID-19 cases in 4 months
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 28 COVID-19 related deaths and new 203 infections bringing the total number of infections in the country to 166,518.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter page on Monday night.
The number of cases represents the highest recorded in over two months and the highest daily deaths in over four months as a result of a surge in the number of cases recorded in Benue State.

The health agency also disclosed that the new cases were recorded in five states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It stated that Benue had the highest number of infections with 178 cases followed by Lagos state with 10 and Ondo with 6 infections, FCT and Kaduna with 4 cases each while Plateau had one case.
According to the NCDC, the report included a backlog of data from Benue and Nasarawa States recorded from February to May 2021.
It also said that zero cases were regostered from Ekiti, Enugu, Kano, Nasarawa, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Rivers and Sokoto states.

So far, Nigeria has confirmed 166,518 while 158,781 people have been discharged and 2,099 deaths.
