Nigeria loses 321 people to COVID-19 related deaths in February
Statistics gathered have shown that Nigeria recorded 321 COVID-19 related deaths in February indicating an increase in the number of fatalities from 275 deaths recorded in the month of January while the confirmed cases in the country as at end of February stood at 155,657.
According to the report by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in the first week of February, the number of reported deaths in the last one week in 15 states and FCT was 81, the number of new confirmed cases decreased to 8,506 from 9,676 reported in the last week of January. These were reported in 35 states and FCT.
The number of discharged cases increased to 8,536 from 7,761 in the fourth week of the year. These were reported in 32 states and FCT. Cumulatively, since the outbreak began in the 9th week of 2020 there have been 1,667 deaths reported as of 21st February 2021 with a case fatality rate (CFR) of 1.2 percent.
Globally, the count for confirmed COVID-19 cases is 105,394,301 with 2,302,302 deaths resulting in a case fatality rate of 2.2 per cent.

In the second week, 86 deaths were reported in 17 states and FCT. The number of new confirmed cases decreased to 6,606 from 8,506 reported in the first week. These were reported in 32 states and FCT. In Week 06, the number of discharged cases decreased to 7,668 from 8,536 recorded in the previous week. These were reported in 27 states and FCT.

In the third week of the month of February, the number of reported deaths in 19 states and FCT was 86 while the number of new confirmed cases decreased to 5,720 from 6,606 reported in the second week of February. These were reported in 35 states and FCT.
In Week 07, the number of discharged cases decreased to 7,475 from 7,668 in the second week of February. These were reported in 29 states and FCT.

Cumulatively, since the outbreak began in Week 9, 2020 there have been 1,839 deaths reported with a case fatality rate (CFR) of 1.2 per cent.
In the last week of February, the number of deaths was 66. The number of new confirmed cases decreased to 3,583 from 5,720 recorded in the previous week. Cumulatively, since the outbreak in week 9, 2020 there have been 1,907 fatalities. The number of discharged decreased to 5,100 from 7,475 registered in the third week.
As of 28th February, the number of confirmed cases hit 155,657, discharged 133,768 while the number of deaths so far hit 1907 with 240 cases recorded in 12 states and the FCT. 3 deaths were recorded.
