The presidential candidates of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Tinubu, and the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar have boycotted the AriseTV Presidential Town Hall Series on Security and Economy held in Abuja on Sunday November 6. The presidential debate was organized by AriseTV to discuss the state of the economy and the security situation in the country. Meanwhile, the Presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi; the New Nigerian Peoples’ Party, Musa Kwankwaso; and the Peoples’ Redemption Party, Kola Abiola were present for the debate. However, the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar was represented by his running mate, Emmanuel Okowa, the governor of Delta State.

President Muhammed Buhari has been asked to compel the Hon. Minister for Education, Chris Ngige, and the acting Accountant General of the Federation, Sylva Okolieaboh to comply with the agreement between ASUU and the Federal government. The appeal was made by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP. The body has asked the Federal Government to immediately reverse the half payment of lecturers’ salaries and implement full payment of their salaries for the duration of the 8-month they were on strike. Earlier last week, the chairman of ASUU, Emmanuel Osodoke, had accused the Minister for Education, Chris Ngige, of selective payment of some ASUU lecturers and stated that some lecturers had already begun to receive half salaries. He added that ASUU may be forced to proceed on another indefinite strike if the issue is not immediately addressed.

Crystal Palace manager, Patrick Vieira has reportedly made a transfer decision on Malcom Ebiowei, ahead of the reopening of the transfer window. According to the online edition of The Sun UK, the former Arsenal captain is planning to let the 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee go out on loan in search of regular first team football. Ebiowei arrived at Selhurst Park in the summer, signing a five-year contract that will keep him at the London club until the end of the 2026-2027 season.
