The Senate president, Ahmed Lawan, has disclosed that the Senate Committee on Banking will grill two deputy-governors of the CBN on Friday over the new policy on cash withdrawal limit. Recall that Nigeria Today News reported on Tuesday that the CBN had pegged over-the-counter cash withdrawal limit by individuals and organisations to N100,000 and N500,000, respectively, per week. While addressing a motion raised by a member of the senate concerning the new policy, the Senate president, disclosed that, “our committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions will focus its questions on the planned policy. The CBN deputy governors must be thoroughly grilled on the policy…” Lawan added that “As good as the cashless policy may be, it shouldn’t be jumped at, at once. The PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has reiterated his commitment to restructure the country if elected president in the coming 2023 general elections. The PDP flag bearer restated this at a PDP Presidential campaign rally in Osun State, Osogbo yesterday. Recall that Atiku has on Monday made the same promise to restructure the country and allocate more power to the states, LGAs, and traditional rulers at a similar rally in Lagos. Atiku said he had realised that restructuring Nigeria is the only way to ensure economic growth in Nigeria, tackle insecurity, joblessness, and grass root poverty. However, many have questioned the former vice-president’s motive, as he declined to patronise Nigerian hospitals if elected president during a recent interview.
