…Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed describes Maida as an excellent journalist with numerous contributions to the Nigerian media during his lifetime
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Tuesday has sent condolences to the staff, management and board of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) over the death of the agency’s board chairman, Malam Wada Maida.
Mohammed made this known in a statement issued in Abuja saying the news came to him with shock and sadness.
While condoling with NAN, the minister described the late Maida as a great journalist, good administrator and successful publisher who played enormous roles in the growth and development of the media in the country.

He said Maida, a former Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of NAN would be remembered for his tremendous contributions to Nigerian journalism and other aspects.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this moment of sadness. May God forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest,” he said.
Maida was the Chief Press Secretary to General Muhammadu Buhari in 1983. Until his death, Maida was a member of the Executive Board of the International Press Institute.
