…Final year students in Lagos day and boarding schools to resume in preparation for examinations
Lagos State Government has announced the resumption of schools for Senior Secondary School and Technical Studies exit students to be Monday, August 3, 2020.
This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the Lagos Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo in connection with the Federal Government’s directive for students in terminal classes to recommence academic activities on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 for revision exercises onward their upcoming examinations.
“This is to allow for revision classes and adequate preparation ahead of their forthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE),” Adefisayo said.
She explained that the resumption was pertinent to the programme of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations starting on August 17, 2020.

“Only SSS 3 and Technical Studies Three (TEC 3) students are permitted to resume at day and boarding schools on the 3rd of August, for revision classes and examinations,” she reiterated.
In the statement, the commissioner urged the schools to observe all the health rules and procedures to with the effort to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
She further stated that various meetings preceded the decision as stakeholders in the education, health and safety sectors considered and put safety measures in top priority before the resumption of the students at day and boarding schools.
“The Office of Education Quality Assurance will be going round all the schools across the state to monitor the level of safety and protocol compliance expected to be put in place by both private and public schools,” she concluded.
