IPOB sit at home turns bloody in Imo state
Commercial activities are currently grounded in Enugu State and Abakaliki, Onitsha in Anambra state as residents observe the stay-at-home order given by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
It would be recalled that IPOB issued an August 8 deadline to the federal government to release their leader Nnamdi Kanu who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) or a weekly lockdown will be enforced.
However, there was confusion yesterday as to whether the exercise would hold or not after Nnamdi Kanu’s brother issued a counter directive saying the exercise had been called off to allow students sitting for the NECO examination to do so.
The spokesperson for the group, Emma Powerful refuted the claim.

Meanwhile, the sit-at-home registered heavy compliance in some states in the southeast such as Enugu, Imo, Abakaliki in Ebonyi State, Onitsha in Anambra state as banks, schools, markets, shops, eateries, and some businesses recorded partial compliance.
In Ebonyi State, there was partial compliance as there was vehicular movement while some businesses were also open in Abakaliki.
Many filling stations in the capital city didn’t open for businesses while very few others opened.

Civil servants defied the sit-at-home order as they were seen in their offices at Ochudo City Secretariat and the old government house, Abakaliki.
In schools, only National Examination Council (NECO) candidates were seen writing their exams.
Enugu state also recorded total compliance in solidarity with the sit at home protest.
In Nnewi, Anambra State, two persons were allegedly killed and three buses set ablaze during the sit-at-home protest although there was total compliance in Onitsha.
