…The menace caused by herdsmen in the country should come to a halt
In recent years, herdsmen have wrecked so much havoc on various states in the country.
They have instilled fear into local farmers and villagers. These people are now unable to go to their farms in peace.
The House of Representatives moved a motion on Tuesday urging the Federal Government to do something about the migrating of herdsmen into the country.
The motion was moved by Rep. Ndudi Elumelu who further reported that security agents have always notified the government on the fact that the herders who cause so much havoc are not even from the country, they come in from neighbouring African countries.
He also said that these herders have used their militant nature to scare away farmers in affected locations across the nation and have simultaneously left a large number of dead during the clashes.
He went on to say that regardless of these killings and conflict by herdsmen, the federal and state government have managed to turn deaf ears to the outcry.
He says that the recurring killings and clashes by these herdsmen will lead to security instability in the nation if not immediately checked.
The speaker of the house, Femi Gbajabiamila has mandated the committee on Police Affairs to cooperate with security agencies and provide feedback in 4 weeks time.
