Armed security operatives deployed to Abuja-Kaduna train stations as operations commence today
The Abuja-Kaduna train has resumed operations eight months after the terrorist attack which grounded the train operations to a halt.
The operations which started today, Monday witnessed the end of a long wait by passengers who depend on the luxury train for transportation.
Recall that armed terrorists attacked the train on March 28, 2022, kidnapping 168 passengers and killing eight others in one of the largest kidnapping incident in the country.
The first train was scheduled to take off today, Monday, by 9:45 Am to Rigasa in Kaduna.

Meanwhile, in order to forestall further security breaches, the Inspector General of Police, Baba Ahmed, has said the Force had deployed armed police officers and intelligence operatives to the train station to protect lives and properties.

The police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated in a statement on Sunday night that men of the Police Mobile Force K-9, Force Intelligence Bureau, Explosive Ordinance Unit, and the Railway Police Command had been deployed for the Commencement of the railway service on Monday.
Adejobi revealed that even before the commencement of the rail services, the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Railway Corporation including other security agencies, have been in talks to discuss the best possible ways to protect lives and properties in the train and also protect the train tracks from vandalism.

The Police spokesperson assures passengers that all the parties involved have resolved to provide adequate security at the train stations, inside the train, and along the train to protect lives and properties of passengers.
He added that the security agencies were not just deployed to the Abuja-Kaduna train stations but all other train stations across the country.
