President Jonathan is leading ECOWAS delegation to Bamako
Former President arrived Bamako, capital of Mali on Wednesday evening with a delegation to begin his assignment as leader of ECOWAS peace mission to West African nation.
“I’m optimistic that our mission will yield positive results. Our message of peace and progress has so far been well received by stakeholders,” Jonathan said after he arrived at the airport in Bamako.
Jonathan was appointed by the authorities of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS to serve as a special envoy to the West African nation of Mali Tuesday to aid in resolving the worsening socio-political crisis in the poor West African nation.

Part of the ex-Nigerian leader’s duty will involve orchestrating dialogue by convening series of talks with President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, members of the opposition, civil society groups, and religious bodies.
