Twitter to set up Nigerian office in 2022
The federal government has disclosed that the suspension on microblogging site Twitter will be lifted soon.
It would be recalled that Twitter was suspended in Nigeria on June 5, 2021, after it deleted a tweet from President Muhammadu Buhari’s account for violating its terms of use.
The minister of Information, Lai Mohammed while fielding questions from state house correspondents after the federal executive council meeting, disclosed that progress has been made in meetings they have had with Twitter.

Mohammed explained that social media platform has accepted most of the conditions given to them but that some areas such as Twitter setting up an office, and having a staff of management cadre that will serve as the country representative, are still being discussed.
He said that in the area of a Nigerian office, even though Twitter has agreed to the condition, it is however maintaining that the earliest it can establish it is 2022.
The minister expressed confidence that everything will be ironed out with Twitter within a few days or weeks.
