…Former Zamfara State Governor pushes the officer that corrects him for violating health procedures
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Wednesday condemned the actions of the former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari for reportedly disregarding the guidelines and procedures on COVID-19 on travels at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport last Saturday.
This was disclosed by the agency in a statement posted on its official Twitter account on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the former Governor who refused to observe the protocols and procedures put in place by the Federal Government, violently pushed an officer for maintaining that his luggage must be sanitised.
The former governor’s ignoble behaviour was condemned by the agency, even as they called all airport users, to regard the Public Health travel protocols structured put in place by the authorities to safeguard all air travelers against the viral infection.
The tweet reads: “The Management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) hereby strongly condemns the conduct of the former Governor of Zamfara State, Alh. Abdulaziz Yari who blatantly violated the Public Health procedures for COVID-19 on travels at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Saturday, 11th July 2020.
“He refused to adhere to the protocols and procedures put in place by the Federal Government through the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID19 by forcefully pushing away an officer of the Environment when he insisted that his luggage must be disinfected.
“The former Governor said the officer should have known he is a VIP.
“This irresponsible act endangers all other airport users, it is unacceptable and as such it has been duly escalated.
“FAAN hereby cautions all airport users, especially our esteemed VIPs, to please respect the Presidential directive by observing the Public Health travel protocols put in place to protect all air travellers against infection and the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
This despicable act of flouting COVID-19 health procedures should be shunned by the political office holders, as the number of infections in the country surge on daily basis.
