Ize-Iyamu won the hearts of some of the people of Edo
The 2020 Edo governorship election which held two days ago saw the People’s Democratic Party candidate Godwin Obaseki emerge the winner.
The results which were announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission brought mixed reactions from supporters of the All Progressives Congress candidate Ize-Iyamu.
Although Obaseki emerged as the winner with higher votes from 13 LGAs in the state, Ize-Iyamu still amassed votes from the remaining 5 LGAs and won them over.
Below are the lists of Local Government Areas won by APC in the State.
1. OWAN EAST
Owan Local Government is one of the 5 LGAs where Ize-Iyamu got higher votes than his toughest opponent Obaseki.
In this LGA, APC got 19,295 votes while PDP got 14,762 votes from the people.
2. ETSAKO WEST
Here, Obaseki got 17,959 votes and Ize-Iyamu leaving a huge gap of 8,181 votes between himself and Obaseki as he amassed 26,140 votes.
This indicates that APC remains the choice of the people of Etsako West LGA.
3. ETSAKO CENTRAL
In Etsako Central, Obaseki got 7,478 and Ize-Iyamu of APC got 8,359 votes, leaving a not too wide gap between himself and his opponent.
4. AKOKO EDO
In this local government area where Ize-Iyamu emerged winner, he only managed to surpass his opponent with 2,862 votes.
Godwin Obaseki of PDP got 20,101 votes from the people while Ize-Iyamu got 22,963 votes.
5. ETSAKO EAST
It is now apparent that in the three parts of Etsako LG; West, Central and East, Ize-Iyamu happens to have won the people’s hearts over as they gave more of their votes for the APC candidate.
Obaseki got 10,668 while Ize-Iyamu amassed 17,011 in these LGAs leaving a margin of 6,343 votes between himself and his opponent.
