Adeleke promised to focus on grassroot development
Davido’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke, has been sworn in as the new governor of Osun state.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Osogbo city stadium.
Recall that Adeleke contested the guber election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The election which took place on July 16, 2022, saw the former Senator defeating the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was seeking re-election.

Adeleke secured 403,371 votes to defeat Oyetola who polled 375,027 votes.

Although the victory was challenged by a PDP faction led by Prince Dotun Babayemi who laid claim to the governorship ticket of the PDP, the apex court dismissed the appeal and declare Adeleke winner.

During the inauguration, Adeleke promised to focus his developmental plan on the grass root and make the local government more responsible.
He said, “As I accept the mantle of leadership entrusted upon me by the people of our dear State, I am conscious of the enormous challenges and responsibilities ahead of me and will beginning from this hour work day and night with deep sense of purpose to be a servant to you all.
“We will restore the lost glory of our local governments in order to make them more responsive to the needs of the people at the grassroots”
The inauguration was attended by PDP stalwarts including Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP; Iyorchia Ayu, PDP national chairman; Bukola Saraki, former senate president, as well as former governors and party chieftains.
