Customs officers urge smugglers to engage in legitimate business
The Nigeria Customs Service have destroyed over N12 million worth of contraband goods confiscated in Kwara State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the goods were set ablaze on Tuesday in the State capital, Ilorin.
According to the report, the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd) has educated Nigerians on the dangers of patronising imported rice, and other consumables as most of these goods get expired before arriving on the shores of Nigeria.

The report said 927 bags of rice, 123 bags of semolina (10kg), 25 bags of semolina (5kg), and numerous cartons of Mamador vegetable oil which were all expired were set ablaze.
“All these expired seized goods, worth N12.88 million and, certified not fit for both human and animal consumption by relevant authorities,’’ he said.
“We will not get tired of stopping the smugglers until we suppress the smuggling to the barest minimum,’’ the report said.
