COVID-19: 52 fresh cases recorded, 32 discharged
After several days of no fatalities, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced two COVID-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours and 52 fresh cases of the virus.
The health agency disclosed this on its official Twitter handle.
Nigeria has recorded 2,065 Coronavirus-related deaths and 165,273 confirmed cases since the pandemic began. NCDC disclosed.
The agency also disclosed that the newly recorded COVID-19 cases were recorded in six states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to the report, Taraba led with 18 new infections, FCT and Rivers (9) each, Lagos (7), Akwa Ibom (6), Kano (2), and Kaduna (1).

“Today’s report includes data from Taraba, recorded between April 22 and May 4, 2021,” it noted.
The health agency added that since the pandemic broke out in the country in February 2020, the nation had carried out 1,939,165 million tests in the 36 states of the federation including FCT.

It also disclosed that 32 people were recovered from isolation centers across the country bringing the total number of discharged cases to 155,403.
The NCDC said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
