COAS: Buhari authorizes flag to be flown at half-mast
President Muhammadu Buhari has declared Monday, May 24th as a work-free day for members of the armed forces while also authorizing that the National flag is flown at half-mast in order to honour the late Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 others that lost their lives in a plane crash on Friday.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, said this in a statement on Sunday.
“His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria has authorized that the National Flag should be flown at half-mast in all public buildings, facilities and official residences with effect from Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 May, 2021”

“This approval is to honour the memory and services of the Late Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Ibrahim Attahinu, ten senior military and service members who lost their lives in the plane crash on Friday 21 May 2021,” the statement read.
