…Olivier Giroud header secures 3 points for Chelsea
Chelsea got all 3 points against relegated Norwich to sit third on the table with 63 points as Olivier Giroud header secured a lone goal for The Blues on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.
Christian Pulisic created space to give a cross and Giroud guided header at 48-minute of the game was all Chelsea needed for their victory as they struggled.
Their victory translated to a grasp for the third spot ahead of both fourth and fifth-placed Leicester and Manchester United respectively who play on Thursday.
While reacting to the victory, Chelsea coach Frank Lampard noted that the results are critical to his side as the season ends in some days.
“At this stage of the season results are critical and we didn’t concede any chances of note to let them score,” Lampard told Sky Sports.
“Where we are at as a team and where we are in the table, it is all about the result.”
Norwich, who were relegated after their 4-0 defeat in the hands of West Ham on Saturday, failed to record a shot on target during the match.
