…Bayern have won the Champions League six times now pairing Liverpool as the third most successful team in the competition
Bundesliga side Bayern Munich have beaten Paris Saint Germain 1 – 0 to win the UEFA Champions League final.
Bayern claimed Europe’s most prestigious title after Kingsley Coman scored the decisive goal in the 56th minute to secure the trophy over PSG in Sunday’s intense Champions League final.
Hansi Flick’s men were second best for periods of the match at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, but Coman made the difference to deny his former club a historic first Champions League title.
In the air-gasping, skill-displaying final match, the Bavarians through Coman’s goal have scored 500 goals in the competition joining the two Spanish clubs – Real Madrid and Barcelona in that successful records.
Bayern’s victory has paired them with the English Premier League (EPL) champions Liverpool as the European teams that have won it six times, thereby being the third most successful club with the Champions League title. It was only Real Madrid and AC Milan with 13 and 7 respective records of winning the competition that are above them.
Meanwhile, PSG in their first ever Champions League final would agonise the moments as their former player and French international, Coman truncated their hopes of lifting the trophy as the star-studded team of Thiago Silva, Angel Di Maria, Marquinhos, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar among others watched their efforts being drowned by fire-power German side.
Thiago Silva would have wished that the trophy be his parting gift with Ligue 1 team as he has been linked recently with a move to Chelsea and Arsenal in the EPL, notwithstanding the defeat would lift his shoulders high as the first Brazilian to captain his team in the Champions League final.
Thomas Tuchel’s side however would be compensated not only as runners-up, but terrific team who gave Bayern a run for their money by conceding just a goal in the final of the Champions League.
