Muslims celebrate Eid ul Fitr indoors due to COVID-19 pandemic
The Eid ul Fitr celebration is a sacred celebration for Muslims. It is one of the two celebrations (Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Kabir) that is recognised in Islam. The Eid ul Fitr celebration comes up immediately after the holy month of Ramadan. The day is usually celebrated in grand style as Muslims step out of their homes in troops to observe the prayer of the day. After the prayer has been observed, there is usually a lot of eating, drinking, and merriment.
However, this year, the Eid ul Fitr will not be celebrated in the usual grand style due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has caused everyone to stay at home and celebrate with immediate families alone, as interstate movements as well as large-crowd gatherings have been banned for the time being.
But despite this unpleasant reality, below are 4 ways Muslims can still have a fun-filled celebration:
1. Prioritise Activities That Boost Family Bonding: Too many outside appointments can cause a relationship to flop. This stay-at-home Eid celebration is one of the ways to build a good rapport with your family. In line with the Eid celebration, Muslims should endeavour to spend the day with their families and organise prayers and feast among themselves.

2. A House Party Only For Family Members: Muslims can throw an indoor mini-party with an immediate family. This indoor party could include activities like playing board games(Ludo, Scrabble, Monopoly, etc.). They could also organise indoor sports such as lawn tennis, handball, etc.
3. Virtual Party With Extended Families: Online facetime apps could be used to relate with extended families so they feel loved and remembered. These virtual parties would to some extent replace the physical gatherings that have been banned. It would also help people comply with the social distancing rules.
4. Exchange Gifts Through Online Stores/Coupons: Online shopping stores are always available to provide necessities. There is great joy in buying gift items for family members, these items, which could be sourced from online stores, could range from accessories to gadgets and even treats and they could be shipped to loved ones directly to their homes.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a period of uncertainty for the nation. However, we must continue to do all we can to make the most of the situation and keep life buzzing, even if its a hum.
