…El-Rufai says Nigeria should honour the rotation formular
With the different agitations ongoing about the region to produce the next president for the nation, the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has lent his voice by throwing his support behind the South produce next President of Nigeria.
El-Rufai revealed this in an interview he granted on BBC Hausa on Saturday.
He went further to declare that he would not support a Northerner to take over as the president from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
The former National Director of the Bureau of Public Entreprises (BPE), also refuted claims that he has ambition to contest for presidency in May 2023.
“In Nigerian politics, there is a system of rotation, in which everyone agrees that if the north rules for eight years, the south will rule for eight years.
“That is why I came out and said that after President Buhari has been in office for eight years, no northerner should run for office. Let the Southerners also have eight years,” the former FCT minister.
He added: “It has been said that I have loved the presidency since I was a minister in the FCT. This is nonsense. I do not want the Nigerian presidency.”
