One of Nigeria's biggest trade exhibitions is underway in Lagos. It is the 15th edition of COOPLAG's annual trade expo and exhibition, COOPLAG which officially opened in Lagos on Tuesday, with over 100 companies exhibiting.

Nigeria Today News was there live to witness the trade expo kick off in grand style. The event which started on Monday at the NEPA Car Park in Marina Lagos would continue for the next three days culminating in a raffle draw for COOPLAG members.

As early as 9:00 am in the morning, the venue has already become a beehive of activity as exhibitors took their stands showcasing items ranging from electronics to fashion; auto to cosmetics, education to financial services; and from food to healthcare.

Over 100 companies, inclduing Dangote Group, Dufil, Old Mutual, Nestle, Unilever, Globacom, Cooperative Mortgage Banks, etc are taking part in this year's edition.

Other exhibitors cut across banking and financial services, manufacturing, sales services, e-commerce, real estate, telecoms, IT, agribusiness etc.

But the best news is that the prices of items here are cheaper than what obtains in a regular market as they are sold at discounted rates.

Attendance at the exhibition is not restricted, so you can explore the opportunity to do your Christmas shopping.

President of COOPLAG, Mr Akinrotimi Akintomide told Nigeria Today News at the opening ceremony that the expo provides a conducive environment and invaluable opportunity for meaningful trade and commerce activities for participants.

He said since four years ago when the administration came into power, the cooperative has now become the foremost corporate entity in Nigeria. He said they are collaborating with Nigeria’s leading corporate businesses and institutions.

“So we are dealing with the very best, we have Nestle, Dangote, Unilever, Glo, CMB, these are the people we are dealing with. And that tells you the kind of quantum leap we have achieved collectively as a society,” he said.

The President appreciated the sponsors for their unalloyed support and said this year’s event is going to be the best so far.

“We want to thank them for their support. So on behalf of the 3,000 members of the society and their family members, our Presidents in Lagos and in Port Harcourt, we want to formally open the exhibition for the 2019 edition,” he said.

He, however, noted that this year’s trade fair will be the last one for his administration. He commended the effort and selflessness of the team in organizing the event from 2015 till 2019.

“And this will be the very last one for me and my team, so many of us came in four years ago, and this will be the final one. And we are grateful to God that it’s already the best event for us,” he said.
