The Balogun market is on fire

One of Africa's most popular fashion items market, Balogun market in Lagos is currently on fire.

The market was said to have been gutted by fire in the early hours of Tuesday. The cause of the fire is still unknown at the time of filing this report. 

Pictures from the scene show black smoke billowing into the cloud as the inferno rages.

An eyewitness who shared a short clip of the inferno on Twitter called on the fire service to respond urgently to arrest the situation.
